Bonding
Dental bonding is a versatile, durable method of repairing or correcting teeth. The composite resin used for dental bonding can be matched to a patient's tooth color so it blends in naturally. It can then be used to fill in chips in teeth or perform cosmetic improvements. We use it in all these ways:
- Cover a badly discolored tooth that will not respond to whitening
- Improve the shape of one or more teeth that are unattractively shaped
- Lengthen one or more teeth that are shorter than the others
- Eliminate spaces between the teeth, especially the two front teeth
Most dental bonding can be completed in a single visit. After coloring the material to match the patient's teeth, we lightly etch the surface of the tooth. We then apply dental bonding material to the tooth and shape it as needed. Once the repair or cosmetic correction is complete, the material is hardened with a special light and then polished to a natural shine.
