Periodontal Care

The health of your gums is just as vital as the health of your teeth. In fact, if the health of your gums is lost, this could lead to the loss of all your teeth. Poor gum health can also contribute to serious health conditions like heart disease or diabetes.

Whenever you come to Dental Care Team for a cleaning, examination or treatment, we will look for signs of gum disease, also called "periodontal" disease. Whatever the situation, we have a solution.

  • Pink toothbrush or gums bleeding after brushing teeth
  • Bleeding after flossing
  • Bad mouth odor
  • Swollen, painful, red areas in the gums
  • Sensitive teeth
  • Teeth moving or loosening

If the signs of gum disease are very minor, we may simply educate you on changes you should make to your at-home dental hygiene routine. And you should definitely maintain a regular schedule of visits for cleanings and examinations.

If the signs are more severe, we may recommend a deep cleaning under the gums called "scaling and root planing." Because our goal is your total health, we are always ready to help you maintain or correct the health of your gums.
